The Inseam Struggle Is Real As far back as I can remember, finding pants that were actually long enough has felt like a weird full-time side quest. I’m 5'10", and for years it was basically guaranteed: if the pants fit everywhere else, they’d be suspiciously “cropped” the second I took one step. And not the cute, intentional cropped. The accidental, why are my ankles out in February cropped. I’ve tried to solve this in all the ways tall girls quietly do. Sometimes I just wear my husband’s pants around the house because, honestly, men’s sweatpants don’t play games, they come long and they come comfy. I’ve also bought men’s track pants just to lounge in, because at some point you realize you’d rather have pants that actually reach your feet than force yourself into another “tall” option that still floats above your socks. And maybe it’s just me, but I actually love when pants drag on the floor sometimes. There’s something about a true long inseam that feels luxurious, like the pants are finally doing what they were meant to do: touch the ground. Especially right now, when 90s style is back in full force and baggy, flared, floor-skimming jeans are everywhere. The problem is… finding the right inseam is still a struggle. Here’s the annoying part: “tall” doesn’t always mean tall. Some brands label tall styles that feel made for someone who’s 5'8" with a 32" inseam (which is great for them, but not for me). Other brands go the opposite direction and their tall line feels like it’s only for women who are 6'2"+. And I’m just standing in the middle like… hi, I exist too. For me, the sweet spot is usually around a 34" inseam. A 35" can be amazing depending on the style (and whether I’m wearing shoes), but sometimes it’s just a little too long. I don’t mind pants that hit above the ankle, but it completely depends on what look I’m going for. If I’m wearing leggings or a slim straight jean, ankle can look intentional. But if I’m trying to do that baggy/flare/90s vibe, I want the hem to hit the floor like it has plans.
